Tips for Beginner Runners

  1. Run only in athletic shoes

If you can get professional running shoes, do it right away. But if this is not yet possible, then any sneakers will do in the first stages. But in the future, if you plan to run more impressive distances, then you should think about purchasing something more serious. Your joints and knees will thank you!)

  1. Increase the distance gradually

Most beginners, myself included, make the same mistake – trying to run as much as possible without paying attention to fatigue. As a result – pain in muscles and joints, and most importantly, not a desire to go to the next run.

Start from a short distance. Even if you feel that you still have strength, stop, because the pain in the muscles will begin only the next day. And so gradually, without harm to the body, you will achieve the desired results. Act consistently, and running will only bring feelings of contentment and joy.

I started running from one kilometer, and after a few laps I walked to restore my breathing.
3) run at a moderate pace

Another common mistake is too fast a pace. It is best to alternate running with walking at the beginning of your journey, and each time you go for a run, increase your running time and decrease your walking time. You will soon feel that you can run continuously. Thus, you will accustom your body to stress gradually, without harm to the body.

  1. Don’t forget to stretch

Warming up is very important! If you don’t want to get hurt, strained, or dislocated, be sure to heed this advice.

Dynamic warm-up exercises are best before running, followed by stretching. Consider this a must for your entire running workout and never miss it. Exercising before running will warm up your muscles and prepare them for stress, while stretching after running will minimize muscle soreness after exercise.

  1. Change your route

Monotony in running is one of the most common reasons for beginners to skip running. After all, running around the stadium is so boring. Change your route and terrain! For example, you can run in a park or city streets. Believe me, running in different places, you will not notice how you have passed another kilometer!
