El Niño Hits Northern California

There are those who may joke about San Francisco's coldest winters in fact being in the summer time, but after years of waiting, the joke is finally over and the nearby mountains in Tahoe and the Sierras have snow.

Bay Area residents have long been lucky enough to take advantage of dual climates - year round temperatures at sea level that are mostly hospitable, with great access to winter sports just a few hour drive away.

After a few seasons with little snow to be seen, the promised El Nino season seems to have started, with already numerous days of what can be best described as "hero snow."
