Style Review: adidas Pharrell Tennis Hu
This May, musician and cultural icon Pharrell Williams teamed up with German sportswear giant adidas to release the Pharrell Tennis Hu. The project revitalized the vintage silhouette by capitalizing on adidas' material du jour: primeknit.
Offered in multiple color ways (both the sole and body), the shoe combines sport driven features with a clean aesthetic, giving you options to dress this shoe up and down. To dress up, simply couple the shoe with a "no see" merino sock (these from Smartwool will do the trick) and wear them with a chino (preferably, ours) rolled up to expose the ankle. If you choose not to bear the ankle, minimize the break on the pant leg to avoid that sloppy, bunched up material look (which tends to make guys look heavier than they are). Top it off with a clean white shirt or one of our Five Day Button Ups to round out the look.
Perhaps the greatest thing about the material of these shoes are that if you buy the white (and you should), they are a cinch to refresh and revitalize. We did a bunch of wash testing on these and here's the process: wash cold (separately) and air dry. It is strongly recommended that you do not wash these in the dryer.
Simply add a touch of bleach when you wash them (assuming you get the white, which, you should). Wash on cold (separate), with detergent and bleach. Air dry.
